J&K sees over 230 enforcement drives against tainted fertilizer supply: GoI | KNO

Srinagar, Dec 05 (KNO): In a crackdown on malpractices in fertilizer supply, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have taken more than 230 enforcement actions against black marketing, hoarding, and the supply of substandard products during the current Kharif season, Union Ministry informed in the Lok Sabha. As per the data submitted by J&K to the Centre, the Union Territory conducted 3,694 inspections between April 1 and November 28, 2025, to check irregularities in the supply of urea, DAP and other fertilizers . As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), during this period, authorities issued 142 show-cause notices, cancelled 44 licences, and registered two FIRs for black marketing-related violations in the UT Under hoarding-related enforcement, the UT served 31 notices, cancelled two licences, and reported no FIRs. “J&K issued 55 show-cause notices for substandard quality cases, while eight notices were served in diversion-related checks, though no FIRs were lodged under these categories.” The Ministry further said that fertilizer availability across the country, including J&K has remained adequate during the ongoing Rabi 2025–26 season. “Any complaint received at the central level is forwarded to the concerned State/UT for action under the Essential Commodities Act and Fertilizer Control Order.” The Centre also informed that the fertilizer movement is continuously being monitored through the Integrated Fertilizer Monitoring System (IFMS) and States, UTs are advised to coordinate with manufacturers and importers to ensure timely supply—(KNO)
